Overview

Background

The Hillsboro School District is facing challenges related to modernizing current facilities and providing sufficient school / classroom capacity to accommodate anticipated increases in student enrollment over the next 20 years. In light of this, the District believes that a new school construction bond program is necessary to provide funding for new school facilities and modernization of existing school facilities. The District will work with a committee of community representatives over the course of the 2016-17 school year to consider projects that address the identified school capacity needs and funding opportunities related to the bond program.

Additional open houses and feedback gathering sessions are planned for the following dates:

The Bond Advisory Committee held its first Open House event on Thursday, Feb. 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Brookwood Public Library, 2850 NE Brookwood Parkway. A brief presentation kicked off the open house to provide some background and context, and then attendees were invited to walk around the room to look at boards that described the package elements in more detail.
